Wombats Dubai Super League 2016 – 17.
15th October 2016
As soon the ICC decided to get underway with the Pink Ball, how could the DSL stay behind. The first game played with a pink ball in the DSL saw exciting moments from both sides who came in with a win and a loss each, looking to climb the points table.
Cool Boys won the toss and sent Wombats in to bat.
The decision proved critical with the pink ball swinging and the dew expected to play role later in the night.
Zee Ali made early inroads into the Yellows batting order and grabbed three early wickets. With the entire top batting order back in the hut, yellows were left reeling at 30-4
Some repair work by Atif Butt and Masam Malik saw the yellows creep to 85-5 before Atif edged one to the off spinner. Masam took the attack on solely before he fell to Zee Ali too.
The tail wagged and yellows ended up with 135 in their allotted 25 overs
Yellows bowling started with some fire with Hasnad cracking up some good pace and the batsmen smelling the leather early on. Hasnad got rid of the in form Rumman early on. The debutant left arm spinner Abid got the dangerous Riz Khan caught behind. Faisal falling LBW to Hasnad saw Cool Boys at 20-3 with a game to watch out for.
A brilliant counter attack from Nauman helped Cool Boys keep up their run rate and the pressure off. A few lapses in the field and a couple of dropped chances was all the Cool Boys needed to get back on top after a few nervous moments. Yellows tried everything they could with seven bowlers getting to bowl but failed to make any impact with the soggy dew affected ball.
Cool Boys wrapped up the innings in the 19th over, securing a bonus point.
A couple of good performances but overall a day to forget for the Yellows.
